1.0 Introduction

 

Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy

Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy was established by Government of the Punjab in 2007. It is affiliated with University of Health Sciences, Lahore. AICP is part of Allama Iqbal Medical Complex, Shabbier Ahmed Usmani Road, Lahore and attached with Jinnah Hospital Lahore for Practical Clinical Training for its students.

Initially four years B.Sc. (Hon’s) Physiotherapy was started at Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy. First batch of B.Sc. (Hon’s) Physiotherapy for the session 2007-11 was inducted in April 2008.Classes were started on 9th , April 2008.

Higher Education Commission standardized Physiotherapy Curriculum in 2011. National Curriculum committee was constituted by HEC. Committee approved five years Doctor of Physiotherapy Curriculum. This approved Curriculum is implemented throughout the Pakistan.

University of Health Sciences adopted this DPT curriculum for its affiliated institutes. Since the AICP is affiliated with UHS same is adopted at AICP.

Five years Doctor of Physiotherapy was granted admission in 2011. Classes started in January 2012.

Government of The Punjab is very keen to enhance the opportunities of professional education and training for young students desire to join Medical & Health Sciences. A great importance is attached to this course which is a catalyst for positive change in “Health Care Delivery System” for the people.

Physiotherapy is an essential segment of modern health care delivery system- a science and art of healing which pertain to assessment of Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardio Vascular, Respiratory system, Peritoneal Pleural other cavities and organs, disorders of functions including “ Pain, Edema, physiological, Structural and those of Psychosomatic origin. A physiotherapist has to address Physical, Psychiatric and Social trauma through covering basic parameters of healing science i.e. Preventive, Promotive, Diagnostic, Rehabilitative and Curative.

Physiotherapist has to render the services for all walks of life “Hospitals, Clinics, Rehabilitation centers, Nursing homes, Mental health disorder management Centers, Sports, Teaching institutes, Offices, Industries etc.,”

This modern age of super specialty of the medical profession demands highly skilled physiotherapist. Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy took the responsibility to achieve the objective.

Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy is attached for teaching and training in Basic and Clinical Medical sciences with Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore.

Basic and Clinical Physiotherapy subjects are being taught by Physiotherapists at Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy.

Jinnah Hospital Lahore is attached Hospital with AICP for Clinical practice. Jinnah Hospital Lahore is PMDC recognized teaching hospital having excellent training facilities.

 

1.1 About Course;

Doctor of Physiotherapy is five years practical training in Basic and Clinical Medical Sciences, Basic and Clinical Physiotherapy Subjects, Practical handling of patients, exposure to the subjects dreamed to be needed to physiotherapists in their clinical practice, research, and while performing as teacher.

 

1.2 Affiliations;

Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy is affiliated with;

1.2.1 University of Health Sciences Lahore for the purpose of academic supervision and accreditation.

1.2.2 Allama Iqbal Medical College for theoretic and practical teaching of Basic and Clinical Medical Sciences.

1.2.3 Jinnah Hospital Lahore for practical clinical training on patients.

 

1.3 Objectives;

1.3.1 To produce physiotherapists having excellent professional knowledge experience & skill.

1.3.2 To develop understanding regarding the role as physiotherapist and role of other members of medical professionals.

1.3.3 To develop an attitude of mind to understand their role & importance as physiotherapist in any given situation (sports, schools, offices, industries etc,)

1.3.4 To develop communication skills as physiotherapist.

1.3.5 To develop leadership qualities, and develop organizational / administrative skills.

1.3.6 To produce hunger for research and development in the students joining Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy.

1.3.7 To build qualities of better Muslim and Pakistani among the trainee Physiotherapist.

 

2.0 Admission Policy for Admission in DPT Course;

For the Admission in Doctor of Physiotherapy Following Criteria is adopted.

2.1 Age Between 17-25 Years.

2.2 Qualification F.Sc. (Pre- Medical) or equivalent with 60% in science Subjects.

2.3 Domicile Punjab. 40% seats district Lahore and 60% seats on all Punjab basis.

2.4 Available Seats 20 Twenty seats. Gender Split, 10 boys 10 girls

2.5 Selection Mode Selection will be made on merit.

2.6 Medical fitness Candidates must be medically fit.

2.7 Physical fitness Candidates Physical Fitness is must (Physiotherapist can’t perform if there is any physical handicap)

2.8 Entry Test MCAT taken by the UHS in current year will be considered

 

3.0 Parameters for merit;

3.1 Entry test 30% + Matriculation 20% + F.Sc. (Pre-medical) 50%= 100 %

3.2 Hifz Quran carry 20 marks which will be included in Intermediate (F.Sc.)

3.3 In case of old Student 2% marks will be deducted from Intermediate (F.Sc.)

5.0 Students have to submit an affidavit of rupee twenty attested by

Solemnly declare that all the particulars mentioned in the admission application are true and correct and I fully understand that if any of the statements made in the application is found to be incorrect. I would be liable to refusal for admission to the Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy AIMC Complex, Lahore, if otherwise eligible for admission and admitted, would be liable to be expelled from the college at any time during the course of my studies in this case all fee and other dues paid by me to the college shall be forfeited and any further departmental or legal action which the Government may deem fit to take.

5.2 I am not already admitted to any of the Government Medical College of the country or any other professional or non professional institute of the country.

5.3 Further I solemnly declare that I am not granted admission nor applied for admission in any medical College in any other province of the country

5.4 I also solemnly declare that, if admitted, I will abide by the discipline, rules and regulations of the college as enforced at present and made from time to time by the college authorities in future. I will concern myself only with the academic activities and such extracurricular activities, which are allowed by the college for the healthy growth of body and mind. I understand that I will not take part in any political activity or agitation and I will not become a member of any student wing of political sectarian or caste-based parties of Pakistan. In matters of discipline, the decision of the Vice Chancellor/Principal will be final and binding on me and I will not challenge that decision in any court of law in the country. I will be regular in paying college/University dues and will be punctual in attending my classes; I will not absent myself from teaching program without prior permission of the authority.

5.5 Understand that in my stay at AICP third year, fourth year and final year students have to work in In-Door are not allowed any holiday. Only emergency of medical leaves are allowed. Duty roster are prepared during Eid or other religious events and on Sundays Gazette holidays

5.6 I undertake that so long as I am a student of the college, I will do nothing either inside or outside the college, hostels and hospital premises that my interfere with its orderly administration and discipline or may bring the college or its administration into disrepute.

5.7 In case I don’t continue college and leave my course incomplete I shall be liable to pay Rs. 100000/- to the college to compensate the wastage of the seat.

5.8 I am bound to follow any order issued by the Principal AICP / Principal AIMC / Government of the Punjab / any competent authority.

5.9 In case I am proved guilty by disciplinary committee or any authority. .I shall be liable to appropriate punishment prescribed for such offence or amended from time to time.

6.0 Details Regarding Admission;

6.1 Admission will be purely on merit.

6.2 Application form will be available on our web “aicp.edu.pk”

6.3 Forms will open after announcing the admissions in the Newspaper.

6.4 Students have to submit their application on the web “aicp.edu.pk” within the period announced in the Newspapers.

6.5 Students have to pay Rupee one thousand as procession fee. This fee will be deposited in PLS account No, 12447900429803Habib Bank Limited Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore,

6.6 Merit list will be displayed on the Web.

6.7 Interview calls will be displayed on web “aicp,edu.pk” the eligible candidates will be called for interview; this call does not confirm admission.

6.8 Candidates have to appear before the admission committee constituted by the Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College composed of;

6.8.2 Faculty member AICP Member

6.8.3 Representative of Principal AIMC Member

6.9 On interview date students have to bring original and one photocopy of each document (Matriculation Certificate, Intermediate certificate, Character certificate, Domicile Certificate, MCET Certificate) and two passport size photographs.

6.10 Selection letters will be issued to the candidates on recommendation of admission committee.

6.11 Students have to submit joining within the stipulated time.

6.12 On joining student is required to submit following in the College office;

6.11.1 Matriculation Certificate (Six Copies).

6.11.2 F.Sc. Certificate / Detail Marks Certificate (Pre-Medical) (Six Copies)

6.11.3 Character Certificate of college last attended (One Copy).

6.11.4 MCAT Certificate (One Copy)

6.11.5 Domicile Certificate (One Copy).

6.12 Following original certificates are to be submitted at the time of joining,

6.12.1 Matriculation Certificate, Intermediate certificate, Character certificate, Domicile Certificate, MCAT Certificate

6.12.2 Board Migration Certificate in case of the Federal Board..

6.12.3 Certificate that candidate is vaccinated against Hepatitis, Tetanus, Measles, Mumps and (for Girls) rubella.

6.12.4 Student have to submit ten passport size Photographs with blue back ground

6.12.5 College fee submission receipt.

6.12.6 Candidate has to produce an Affidavit on stamp paper with worth of Rupee 20/- duly attested by the judicial magistrate (Specimen given in this prospectus)

6.13 Candidate will be medically examined to confirm fitness by a Medical Board Jinnah Hospital Lahore. Student has to bear expenses of Medical Board.

6.14 Admission can be cancelled at any time during the course of study if any of documents, certificate or statement is found wrong in any way or at any stage.

6.15 Students must be abiding by all rules & regulation contained in the prospectus and amended made time to time and the instructions issued by the Principal / Authority / Government of the Punjab.

6.16 Student has to report acceptance to The Principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy, in office hours on or before the last joining date mentioned on admission letter.

6.17 In case fail to deposit the fee or submitting the required documents within the stipulated period selection will stand cancelled.

6.18 Classes for first year Doctor of Physiotherapy will be start with effect from the date mentioned on Admission Letter.

 

7.0 Fee

7.1 Annual Tuition Fee Rs, 13890/-

8.0 Hostel; Hostel facility is not available. Students have to arrange their own Accommodation.

11.2 Late Fee Rule; In case the student fail to deposit fee up to the date announced for this purpose.

Sum of rupee one hundred per day will be charged as late fee deposit fine.

 

11.3 Fee Remission Rules

11.3.1 Remission of fee will be allowed by the approval of committee constituted by the principal Allama Iqbal Medical College composed of;

11.3.1.1 Principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy Chair-Person

11.3.1.2 Faculty member from AIMC Member

11.3.1.3 Representative from Jinnah Hospital Lahore Member

11.3.2 Remission of fee will be allowed up to 10% of all the students

11.3.3 Remission of fee mean only tuition fees no other fee or fund will be waved off.

11.3.4 Remanded students will not entitle for fee concession

11.3.5 Application for remission must be submitted by the candidates along with statement from first class magistrate stating the financial position of the applicant’s, parents / guardians.

11.3.6 Fresh application will be required every year.

11.3.7 The grant of the remission will rest upon the recommendation of remission committee. Remission committee will consider;

11.4.1 Principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy will be responsible to maintain the discipline among students of College.

11.4.1.1 For all the administrative matters related to Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy.

11.4.1.2 For all the matters related to academic and Co-Curricular activities.

11.4.1.3 For all the correspondence with principal AIMC, JHL, UHS, or any other organization / body

11.4.1.4 Principal may constituting a disciplinary committee when needed will composed of

11.4.1.4.2 Faculty member from AICP Member

11.4.2 All the Academic or Co-Curricular Activities will supervise by principal AICP

11.4.3 Prior approval of principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy is required for all the student activities inside the premises of AICP, AIMC, JHL, or collective activities by the students (group of students composed of two or more students representing Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy) outside the premises mentioned above

 

11.5Attendance Rules;

11.5.1 80 % attendance of lectures is minimum requirement to submit the admission form for examinations of UHS for all classes

11.5.2 90 % attendance of clinical practice is minimum requirement to submit the admission form for examinations of UHS for third year, fourth year, and final year classes

 

11.6 Fine Rules;

11.6.1 Late fee fine is mentioned under article 11.2 of the Prospectus

11.6.2 Meeting of Disciplinary Committee will be summoned by Principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy when ever any disciplinary situation arises or when opinion of Disciplinary Committee is needed, any mater related to students may be brought before the Committee for consideration

11.6.3 Any amount of fine proposed by Disciplinary Committee will be charged from students.

 

11.7 Migration Rules;

11.7.1 Principal Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy has to seek guidance from Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College.

11.7.2 All the rules of University of Health Sciences will be followed.

12.0 Study Hours and Annual Examination Marks; Study hours and annual examination marks will be as per directions of University of Health sciences.
